Welcome to the Fly Fish Boston Harbor! For the past ten years, many local saltwater fly fishing adventures were featured in the Fly Fisherman's Café , my other blog. I now offer guided shore trips in Boston Harbor, priced at $350 for a 4hr trip. The Boston Harbor is a unique urban setting, where you can catch wild striped bass on a fly from May through October. Contact me for more information. Recommended Gear Rod/Reel: Saltwater fly rods in line weights 6 to 10 can be used, depending on the conditions, location and the size of fish. However I recommend an all-around 9' 9wt graphite (or a glass, if you prefer.) Stripers are not known for long, sustained runs, so any decent modern saltwater friendly fly reel will work. Stripping basket is standard. Fly line/leader: Bring a quality cold saltwater intermediate fly line of your preference. Simple saltwater leader should be terminated with the 16 or 20lb tippet (I recommend 20lb.) Flies: A selection of Deceivers, Clousers, Hollow F
